Mahlon didn’t anticipate Eden to arrive any time soon due to the work she was assigned; she is one of the company’s biggest models, and Mahlon had her working on two to three contracts a day. But what Mahlon didn’t know was that Eden got two of the other contracts canceled.

She knew he was swamped with work and wouldn’t notice anything unless the companies approached him directly.

“How is it going at work?” Eden inquires of Mahlon, who appeared to be preoccupied with something else.

He replied with his usual harshness, “Good.”
