Maya's POV

When Luca knocked on her door two days later with a cell phone in hand, dialing Manuel, It was a thrill for her to hear the scare in his voice.

It seems he was with Anna when the call came through, for she heard the background noise change immediately from rowdy to quiet while he spoke in a hushed tone.

"Maya, you can't hold a grudge that long. You can't be asking me to call off the wedding with your sister!"

She tightened the robe around her body, feeling empty of emotions, as she stared at the painting in Maestro's room. She had to keep this going, or she would fall back on her own words.

"Oh my God, I didn't know she was my sister." Her sarcasm was evident. "How did you know?" Then she snapped, "Listen here, Manuel, I've given you enough time. And tomorrow is the wedding."

"How will she feel if I call everything off a day before the wedding?"

"I don't care a bit *barbie*" she pushed her hair behind her ear, hearing his frustrated sigh
