Derinem stared at the scene with two of his men, scanning the tattered bushes that seemed odd because of the part where Luca had been found, bleeding from his head and shoulders.

His heart tightened as his heartbeat increased. Who would have done this? Shot Luca and kidnapped Maya. It wasn't just any kidnapping game, for there has not been any call whatsoever. And the men have not left a single piece of evidence that would point them out.

He had always felt this could end like this, but how could he have known it could? 

He remembered how jumpy and cold he had felt when he heard Luca's groan and Maya's struggles. He recalled how helpless he had felt, unable to do anything but stare at the phone.
