Chapter 153

Morning.

I woke up and turned to the side of the bed where there was a digital clock waiting to tell me the time. It was some minutes past 9AM. I panicked and got out of bed. We were supposed to be at Mrs Walle's residence by 9.30am, and I was just waking up.

I dashed out of my room to see if Pearl was still asleep, but she wasn't in her room, and that was when I smelt something nice. I went out into the living room, sharing no walls with the open kitchen, and saw some pancakes sitting pretty on the kitchen island.

I blinked unbelievably. Was she seriously cooking when we had a meeting to be at? She turned around and saw me and smiled. She realised what had happened when I didn't smile back.
