Chapter 43. Reality

Why did it feel like I was falling?

“Mei Mei,” Mom whispered, Why was she whispering?

I could feel her tapping me and whispering my name but I didn’t hear what she was saying, she seemed so distant, I tried to tell her I couldn’t hear her but I couldn’t hear my voice. I closed my eyes and let the darkness engulf me.

I opened my eyes and immediately shut them, I opened them again and let my eyes adjust to the room’s brightness. I blinked fully comfortable with the room and noticed Mom, Dad, and Min Jun were staring at me.

“Ama,” I whispered.

I looked around the room and realized I was in bed, in the hospital. How did I get here? The last thing I remember was trying to open the door to Mom’s office but she called my name and now I am here in a bed, in a hospital.

“Mei, you’re awake,” Mom whispered.

Dad and Min Jun turned to me and they smiled.

“Why are you whispering?” I asked.
