“Shouldn’t I come with you?” Ashley asked, holding onto me, squeezing my hand lightly.
“No… You can’t. I’ll call Charles to accompany me if need be. There’s no need for you to get involved,” I said, taking up my jacket.
“Call me if anything happens. Text me at every turn,” she said, a stern expression on her face, worry in her eyes.
“I will… I promise,” I said, walking out the door.
I’m sorry, Ashley. I had to lie. I can’t let Charles know either. I don’t know if I’m suspicious of him or if I just want to walk this path alone.

“Excuse me… are you Miss Rhiannon?” a young girl asked, her hair in two standing pigtails.
