“How do you feel?” Charles asked as he held onto my hand.
“I’m okay,” I answered hoarsely, my throat dry and sore from all the tears and yelling.
“I got you and Ashley some things,” he said, holding up a bag.
“You’ve done more than enough for me and Ash… thank you so much,” I said, a smile on my lips.
“Yeah, and you owe me four more dates. I’ll wait,” he said.
“We’ll be checking your vitals, Miss Rhiannon,” the nurse said, which was his cue to leave.
“I’ll talk to you soon,” he said, walking away.
I couldn’t help but think about what Ashley had said. Who else would want her dead if not Alessandro? But the question was—why?
After a few days in the hospital, I was discharged, and soon after, Ashley was able to move freely again. It made me so elated.
“Welcome home,” I said as I helped her into the house.
“Yeah…” she said, walking slowly.
“Did you tell the police everything you know?” I asked.
