RHIANNON
Father was so close to me. I had always wondered why he seemed faceless in my dreams. My mouth was covered with his hand as he bolted through what seemed like a thick fog of smoke.
I shot my eyes open. The room was spacious, and I looked up to see his face.
Alessandro?
“You’re awake,” he muttered, his soft baritone seeping into my ears. It felt soothing, and I didn’t want it to end.
“What happened?” I struggled to ask. My limbs felt too heavy to carry.
“You were out cold,” Ashley said, rushing to my side.
“Give her a bit of space,” Doctor Collins instructed.
“Oh, Doc…” I heaved.
“How do you feel?” he asked with concern.
“I feel alright…” I answered, pulling my body so I could sit upright.
“There’s no need for that,” he said as Alessandro moved to me, holding me up with his arm—the one I noticed had a bandage wrapped around it.
