I noticed a text from Ashley on my phone.

Ashley: How are you holding up?

Me: What do you mean?

Ashley: I mean… Hailey, is she giving you some kind of trouble?

I turned to look at Hailey, who sat at the far end of the shop tapping endlessly on her phone, and then back to my screen.

Me: She almost caused a ruckus today but it’s alright… she hasn’t given me an issue.

Ashley: I just knew she was up to no good.

I could sense the fury from her text.

Me: Don’t worry, she was put in her place today. Alessandro came around and he made her do all the work.
