“If there’s anything you need, you can always tell me,” Alessandro said, placing my feet on the floor as gently as possible.
“Why do you speak like this?” I blurted out.
“Like what?” he asked.
Is he acting clueless right now? He sounds like someone who’s about to go to war or something.
“Never mind,” I sighed, taking the ice pack and placing it on my bruised feet.
Ashley came back with glasses of juice. “Here’s what we can offer,” she said, placing them on the table. Unfortunately, I could tell he wouldn’t be staying for long, and I didn’t know why.
“I’ll be right back,” Ashley excused herself once more.
“Bu…” I tried to protest, knowing she was doing this just to give us some space again.
“Is there something wrong, Ria?” he asked, crouching down to meet my gaze as I stared at my foot instead of up at him, moving my toes in different directions as though to distract myself. It wasn’t working—his cologne had found its way
