I stood by the door, ears pressed onto the door to hear the rest of her conversation. I couldn’t hear a thing, but then I heard something, subtle, I pressed onto the door even harder.

What am I even doing? Trying to listen to her conversations because of the seed of doubt Ashley placed in my heart? That’s just wrong.

“Hey Hailey, you awake?” I asked as I opened the door to her room widely.
