Venus POV

“Does anyone else hear that?” I asked, cutting into my companions’ laughter. They immediately became quiet, their hearing more enhanced than mine. It reminded me how much I needed Bly back. I was handicapped in every way that mattered, and it sucked to be a liability.

“Yeah,” Jess confirmed, the first to catch the sound. “It sounds like—”

“Like water!” April completed, looking pleased with herself. “It sounds like flowing water, but that is not possible. There are no fountains close to the Paradise Palace. What could it be?”

Well, there existed a mysterious garden no one had seen before, so if there were a fountain there too, I would be the last person to be surprised. The Alpha King was so powerful that I doubted there was anything beyond his reach, especially if he wanted it.
