“May the Paradise Kingdom remain forever!” I rounded up my speech, and the applause exploded again.

Now for the important part of the day.

I watched Venus from the corner of my eye, noticing that she was distracted. It was a blessing in disguise, somehow. I had not found a way to tell her that her pack had eventually been invited, and luckily for me, she had not discovered it on her own yet.

“Now, will the representatives of the Clawride Pack step forward?”

I had fulfilled my side of the bargain by permitting them to attend. It was their turn to play their part. I sat back on my throne and reached for Venus’s hand, but she snatched it away.

She was teary and angry simultaneously, scarier than Vinci after he was forced to take a bath.
