Chapter 123. The Beginning

Instead of the normal smile she usually gave him, something else struck instead. Her eyebrows furrowed, and she weirdly stared at him.

“You said you love me,” She whispered.

“Yeah?”

“This is the first time, right?”

Ezekiel shook his head, a bit amused, “What? I’ve told you I loved you a thousand times before,”

Rhiannon blinked, “Oh!” She blinked again, “I’m sorry, I’m just feeling...a bit out of it,”

“I think you need to rest,” Ezekiel suggested.

“I’ll be taking my leave, then,” Amelia stood up and left.

Ezekiel held her hand and guided her back to bed. He helped her change into more comfortable clothes and tucked her in to get some sleep.

His lips pressed against her forehead, “I’ll be right here till you fall asleep,”

She nodded, then asked, “Will you leave when I close my eyes?”

“Unfortunately, yes. Kaden is waiting for me. We have to attend to some matters concerning the families and the elders,” He said to her, c
