Chapter 12
Beep. Beep. Beep.
The smell of antiseptic and disinfectants blocked my senses as my eyes shot open lazily. Blurry pictures formed jagged lines and I struggled to widen my eyes properly. I felt a sharp pain in my eyes that extended to my head, threatening to split it into two. Tiredly, I shifted my gaze to the direction of my hands and I saw a fixed drip on it.
How did I get here? What am I doing here? My eyes roamed around the room and found Amy sitted on a nearby sofa flanked by two throw pillows. Yawning and groaning, I moved to sit up and Amy lifted her gaze and let out a low sigh of relief. She took a deep breath.
“Thank God, you’re awake. I had rushed down here when I got a call that you had passed out while attending to a customer.” The words flew out of her swiftly and I wondered how she said that in just one breath. Worry was evident in her eyes as she fixed them on me intently. I had Amy as my emergency contact so it was no surprise to have seen her here.<
