Chapter 20
“Hey are you okay?” Lucien asked and then I realised my mouth was agape and I closed it and smiled weakly. “I’m fine.”
The car pulled to a stop when we got to the facade of the building. We walked into the restaurant and the cool air greeted us, sprouting a handful of goosebumps on my skin.
Once we settled into a table and the waiter had served us our orders, we shoved our cutleries into our food in front of us. Once Lucien had taken a handful, he turned his cutleries and placed them on top of the table.
“So … are you ready to talk about it now?” He enquired, staring at me as we were sitting opposite each other. I didn’t blame him though, if I were the one in his position, I would also be eager to know about the split.
I nodded. “He was abusive, I got tired.”
“I’m glad you left him,” was his simple reply. I liked how he didn’t show signs of shock, just composed and spoke a few words. “You’ll be fine.” He assured me, cutting through my thoughts.
