Chapter 48
I had not heard from Tella in a while, after she had gotten a new phone and appreciated Lorenzo whom she called my ‘big friend.’ She did not know our relationship— I and Lorenzo’s—was deeper than friendship. I placed a call to her, the phone rang, then paused as if to catch its breath and continued ringing. Soon, she picked the call and I placed my phone over my ears.
“Hey big sister,” she greeted, “Did you miss me? Because I did!”
I clicked my tongue at her before mimicking her, “did you miss me? Because I did!”
She giggled at her end, “why are you mimicking me?”
“You miss me and you’re just telling me because I called you. Why didn’t you call me or text me?”
Her voice dropped by an octave. “I would have,” she sighed. “Just been occupied with school work.”
“It’s okay, how’s school?”
“It’s going well, I’m trying my best to maintain my good grades.” She informed.
