Chapter 50
Akela had visited me and spent time with me, informing of the latest happenings in her life: how she had gotten a scholarship at a college to study nursing, how she had gotten a new job close to her new apartment…
I tendered words of advice to her, which she was appreciative of. I noticed how she was staring at my stomach, as if wanting to ask of its recent growth but didn't know the right words that would pass the message carefully without offending me.
Since the apparition of my pregnancy, I put a halt to wearing tightly-fitted clothes. I was mostly clad in loosed gowns; maternity ones, because my comfortability meant a lot to me.
"I'm pregnant," I announced, answering her unsaid question and she quickly tore her gaze from my stomach, her eyes meeting mine, her lips curling into a small smile.
"How do you know I wanted to ask."
I winked. "I'm older than you. I know when a child wants to ask an elder a question but unsure of the right words to use."
