Chapter 276
Felicity’s POV
As I observe my body, I notice that my tummy is still rounded up, yet smaller than it used to be. Trying to recall what really happened becomes hard since my memories seem obscure.
When I try to sit up, dizziness sweeps through me like a wave crashing onto the shore. Then I take deep breath breaths and attempt again more slowly this time. Eventually I manage propping myself up on elbows while looking around the room.
That is when Joseph comes into view; he sits at a chair next to my bed with fixed eyesthat are completely sad looking at me. My heart hurts when I see him suffering this way.
“Joseph,” I call out almost inaudibly.
His gaze is transfixed on my eyes. For a brief instant, we simply maintain eye contact with one another while machines beep around us noisily.
I want to smile, but my lips are too weak. “Joseph,” I repeat again, saying it with a more audible tone.
