The detective's eyes widened in surprise. "And you didn't raise an alarm?" he lets his voice show some frustration.
I shake my head. "She's like the wind, this one," I describe to him. "Very fast, always out of sight before one could catch up with her. I knew if I hollered, by the time you reacted, she would have vanished."
Detective James nods, his eyes shifting to mine as if he has understood. "Alright," he nods. "We'll be more alert next time."
I nodded my head as the sack of bricks had just come off my shoulders. At last, I told my secret about Sarah's betrayal, and now I knew they would do something.
