Jessica had not yet processed what Xavier was saying before he ended the call. She was still deeply asleep when his call came through, and she was startled awake, only for him to say one sentence and hang up.

“What is he saying?” she murmured to herself as she tried to analyze his words.

“Get ready?” she asked, yawning while waiting for her brain to wake up fully. It could be slow at times.

“Oh, he wants me to get ready? Has he met with Ethan already? I thought we were spending the rest of the day on the beach for a picnic,” she said as her mind wandered through all the possible meanings behind his statement.

She sighed again, yawned, and lay back down, snuggling into the blanket. It had been a long time since she had slept this well, and she was not willing to trade it for one of his surprises.
