“That won’t be a problem?” Marcus stammered in a question.

He still hoped to get Jessica, which made him delay his wedding to Gold. She had been pestering him about it, but he always found the perfect excuse for her. Hearing the news that Jessica might have had a child got him all jittery.

“Yes, we have not told anyone that this arises from Papa, but Jessica is pregnant. We only confirmed it recently,” Xavier explained, squeezing Jessica’s hands in her lap.

“You confirmed it? I thought it was a marriage by agreement, and one of the clauses was against physical contact?”

“Yes, but things happened, and here we are,” Xavier explained.

He did not see the need to explain to him, but he saw the glances he cast at Jessica; even a blind man could tell he was in love with her.
