Jessica watched them leave, and the room fell silent. Ever since Leslie arrived, she had been talking nonstop about everything she found worth mentioning. Now that she was alone, Jessica missed the chatter. She was only glad she had managed to get Xavier, who had refused to leave the hospital room all day, out.

She stretched to reach the remote from the cupboard and turned on a soap opera. She was not a fan of television, but watching it would help her fall asleep faster.

The door to the room opened, and Angel peeked her head inside and smiled. She had been worried about the young lady since the young lady was rushed out in the morning, and she had eagerly volunteered to bring her dinner.

“Hello, young lady,” Angel said, walking in with a lunch box and closing the door behind her.
