“I must say you are a beauty to behold,” Leslie said, sitting and pulling the chair closer to the bed. She rested her elbow on the bed and placed her head in her palm.

If not for Leslie’s eyes twinkling and her sincerity coming through, Jessica would have taken it as simple flattery between upper-class ladies.
