Chapter 3

A puff of smoke escaped his lips as he leaned back in his chair.

The cigarette roll was held in his hand as he released another smoke.

“This is a serious matter, Gaetano, don’t make me repeat myself,” Antonio roared in anger.

This is what he hated most about his father. He wished the old man would just stay out of his personal life.

“Come on Antonio…I didn’t even know Pivaratti had a daughter,” he mocked, which made Antonio shake his head in disappointment.

“You want full ownership of the family business, right? That will happen when your get married... That’s how things work.”

Gaetano leaned back in his office chair, glaring at his father. His sharp jaws hardened while his blue eyes went dark with hidden emotions.

He hated the manipulative side of his father more.

He had even lost interest in the cigarette that was stuck in his hand, so he laid it in a bowl that lay somewhere on his office desk.

“I don’t think I’m in the mood for marriage,” his voice deep enough spilled the words with itching bitterness that laid on his tongue.

He couldn’t continue this conversation, and with that, he got himself up on his feet. He had to run to the field, and he thought this was the chance.

“I think this conversation is over, Antonio,” he replied, grabbing his coat off the chair.

Antonio looked at his son one more time before stepping out of the room.

He wondered if the big-headed fucker could just listen for once.

Gaetano looked around the office before walking out.

Marriage! what was even marriage to him?

To him, it was just a word.

The only thing he knew about women was one-night stands that he had most of the time with some of his stripers.

It wasn’t a daily routine, but to him, they worked as a great distraction

“Why do you look like you caught some one stealing c***?” Marcos questioned as he sat in the back seat of the car.

His cold stare was forwarded toward his second in command. He always kept wondering how this guy came to be his right hand.

“How many have you supplied in Mexico?” As always, that was his way of dismissing a topic.

Marcos definitely knew and understood that every time he did that. He just didn’t want to talk about it.

“More than enough for testing...Dominic said he would have to try it out before putting it on the market.”

He looked outside the window as the car kept moving.

“Anything from Aveline.”

Marcos looked back at him before focusing back on the road.

“We’re meeting her at the warehouse.” After that was said, most of the drive was silent until the car came to a halt.

He didn’t wait anymore before getting out of the car as if it was burning him.

Most of his men greeted him on his way inside. Taking steps down the hall that had two doors placed each on one side of the metal door at the end of the hall.

The door creaked as he pushed it open, revealing one man tied to the chair. A few of his men turned to look at him.

Marco stood in front of him to have a clear view as well. He knew the fucker but had no time to take the pleasure.

His cold stare moved over to Aveline, who seemed to be looking his way.

His presence always seemed to grab the women’s attention, but to him, they will never deserve his time.

“To my office, now.” His deep voice got her nodding without even a first thought.

The air around him smelled of danger and authority.

She loved that cologne.

She admired everything about him, but all he thought of her was being part of the Di Martinos.

She wanted to be next to him and do most of the crazy things with him or, more, be the lady.

Her heart flattered every time he was around her but just like the rules. He could never play with her.

He treated her like a sister.

The office door in the warehouse was pushed open, and he walked over to his chair, allowing her to close it behind her.

“Details...” he asked, taking a seat and looking through most of the files that were placed on his table, but he never found any interesting.

He wasn’t a man of beating around the bushes. Just on point.

“Conzalato went behind our back and played with the nicotine we had supplied for Sicily...But we managed to get most of his best machines as our pay.”

By the time the words had played in front of him, he didn’t bother to look even surprised though his anger was visible in his blue eyes, and his jaw had hardened.

He had his black gun in his hold, using a white handkerchief to clean it.

“I think by now he knows the machines are missing” were his only words; as usual, never expect much of a reply from him.

He placed his gun back in his clad boot and stood.

“Good job,” he added.

Making her nod proudly. Most of the time, he made her want to try out her bitch characters to get him, but she knew better than to play with Gaetano Di Martino.

He sat in the car one more time as Marcos drove off. “You know, Conzalato will attack soon.”

Gaetano’s smirk grew big at the existence of Marco’s words.

“I will be waiting.” As usual, he liked keeping his words mostly in his thoughts.

Short answers were his thing, and Marcos was used to this from the past years he had known him.

The drive was again silent. He loved the way danger used to play around him.

He was more fond of the smell of blood and the taste of wine.

It was no time before they arrived at the new club he was opening up. He smirked at the fact that things were going better.

“Take a look around...I will check on the casino and the new girls,” his words came out with authority.

“Why do you get the girls?” Marcos asked sarcastically, making him shake his head in disbelief.

“You can join me when your done Marco,” he replied, and without waiting for any more replies, he took hard strides into his new club.
