Chapter 6
She sat leaning into the black cushion allowing her hair to cover half of her face. It always made her feel like she was always hiding away from the world and its claws.
She fidgeted with her fingers on her lap in panic and nervousness.
She had said so much to convince these men that she wasn’t a spy, but they thought it was all her acting.
The room was silent. The silence was so sharp to kill even a fly roaming around the space.
Gaetano stared at this girl that sat in front of him, his insides battling on whether to believe her or let her go.
“Please…” She whispered as another shiver went through her body. Now she was feeling colder, and mostly thanks to her skimpy dress, the apron didn’t help.
Her pleading eyes were full of sadness as she looked up at him.
Marcos seemed to believe her words.
“I think she’s telling the truth Gaetano” his rough voice made Gaetano glare at him.
