As he reached his front door, he couldn’t shake off the feeling of helplessness. He knew that only Grace had the answer to his questions, but he also knew the fragility of her emotional state. The thought of triggering her by asking about the traumatic event was hard for him. He shouldn’t play with her mental status, should he?
Adam’s early return home that day had raised Grace’s suspicions. She was used to his usual routine, and any deviation from it was enough to raise her curiosity. As he walked past her, she couldn’t help but notice the sigh that escaped him, a subtle sign that something was amiss. Grace decided to let it slide for the moment since she was engrossed in the television.

In the days that followed, it was strangely quiet. No one started the conversation. Grace usually became obedient and quiet, her behavior raising even more concerns for Adam.
As he entered his room after work on another ordinary evening, his thoughts were only on Grace.
