Chapter 52
“Grace deserves happiness,” Mrs. Esposito whispered, embracing the frame close to her chest. “And I believe in Adam. He will take care of her,” she added.
She wasn’t a good mother at all, no matter how she was portrayed. Just for the mere sake of money, she had made the worst possible decisions for her daughter, who was already losing hope in life. No one would forgive her for sure, not even Faith.
No excuses could justify the apologies she was making, and the guilt was eating her alive. Yet, even still, the money spoke louder in her mind.
That’s when Mr. Esposito walked in and spotted his wife, teary-eyed, holding the photo. Of course, it was Faith’s photo. Lately, she had been emotional about their deceased daughter—or maybe it was guilt killing her.
He extended his hand to touch her shoulder, intending to comfort her, but she was lost in thought. Instead, he sat beside her, holding her hand and gently caressing it with his palm.
