Chapter 59
“So, we are leaving,” Adam informed them quickly and turned to see Grace, who was ready to join him.
“But you guys should have stayed here tonight. We would be glad,” Mrs. Esposito said politely with a smile. After dinner, Adam had decided to go back home, and Grace didn’t refuse. So, here they were.
“I have a few meetings left behind, so I need to review them. I can’t stay. Maybe next time,” Adam smiled through his words as they nodded.
Mrs. Esposito embraced her daughter, who didn’t return the gesture. Awkwardly, she pulled away from the hug and stepped back.
The car drove away from the mansion. Grace leaned against the window frame, glancing at the outside world.
“How were these two days?” Adam broke the long silence, and Grace jolted. She shouldn’t have reacted like that, right?
“It’s… it’s fine,” she replied.
Awkwardness settled between them again until they reached the mansion—their home. Grace tiredly walked away without even glancing
