Sienna’s POV

The slamming of the door still echoed in the quiet of my house, even days later. Lila’s angry words hung in the air, stinging like a thousand tiny cuts.

“Weak.”

“Trap.”

“Don’t make Daniel leave.”

She was right. She was always right. And that made it hurt even more. I hadn’t left my house much. Each day felt like walking through thick mud, every decision heavy. My mind raced. A confused mess. Part of me wanted to run to Daniel, to feel his arms around me, to let his calm pull me out of this storm. But another part, a louder part, screamed about Zoe. About her pain. About the impossible choice. My children or my happiness? It felt like that was the choice Evan was forcing on me. And Zoe was making it even harder.

I closed my eyes, and a different time flashed in my mind. A time when Evan wasn’t a bad guy. A time when he was everything. I was so much younger then. Fresh out of art school, trying to find my way.
