Chapter 11. Way to the Portal

“I still can’t believe you wanted to follow her blindly after what happened,” Becky whispered to Jimmy. Becky had trust issues; she no longer trusted Alicia, especially after she had kept vital intel from her.

Jimmy slowly glanced at Becky and whispered back, “Trust me then.”

Alicia was leading them to the emergency portal beneath the building that could easily lead to Planet Z. They were good paces behind because Becky wanted to keep her distance from Alicia. She felt like hurting her, just like the power surge had hurt Jimmy.

Jimmy had barely survived the power surge and its effects. No aliens had ever survived it, not even the aliens who volunteered as test subjects. It killed anyone who came across it. Jimmy was an exception, and Alicia tagged it as a miracle.

Alicia looked over her shoulder, realizing they were way too far behind. “You two should keep up!” she yelled out. She had heard what Becky whispered to Jimmy but ignored her. With her alien advance
