Chapter 58. I Can’t Be Alone
The just-risen sun seeped through the leaves and lit up the scene with its golden fingers. Jimmy rubbed his bleary eyes as he slowly sat up. He glances around slowly. There was no sign of Becky or Rufus. It’s just him and their pack lying next to him.
He hurried up to his feet and reached for Becky’s backpack. The zip was open already, revealing the empty backpack. The device is gone. This is like one of his nightmares. He cried out in a loud voice, wanting this to be another of his nightmares.
Everything happened so fast last night and he did remember it.
Moving from one tree to another, he yelled at the top of his voice, “Becky! Rufus!”
He looked frustrated. There was no trail he could follow. Whoever grabbed Rufus and Becky must have covered their tracks.
“Beck! Rufus!” he continued to yell.
The only thing left behind was Rufus and Becky’s weapons and backpacks.
The sound he heard last night got the best of him. He experienced more agony
