I was stopped by Ray’s worried voice when I was about to lunge myself forward and shift. I closed my eyes tight, trying to calm myself as much as I could when in truth, my body was already trembling, thinking about Claire and the pain I felt as the bond linked her agony to me.

“I have to go back, Ray. I need to see Claire. Something is going on with her and her life is at stake,” I snarled at him, threatening him not to stop me.

“But your Grace! You cannot leave in the middle of this battle yet! We haven’t secured the eastern side of this land and anytime, those super-soldiers might come and we need your strength here with us! We cannot match their strength without you!”

I winced, my knuckles white with anger as I grind my teeth together.

“I assume that something is wrong with your Luna based on how you behave, your Grace. But we cannot leave the eastern side of this land unattended, without you leading your people. We all need you here!”
