Chapter 47. The Misery in His Eyes

The ball ended with the guests having wide smiles of satisfaction on their faces.

Many congratulated Hannah and some stopped in front of me to show respect, while others looked like they only had to do it because I was the King Alpha’s fiancee. I never took it personally, though. But I felt I already had enough of their fake smiles and murmurings that caused me too much anxiety.

Beta Ralph and Lady Kendra decided to be the last people to leave the place. The whole time, I felt him glancing at me stealthily, giving me that strange uneasiness. My heart just won’t stop ramming against my chest and the effect of his sexy eyes brings tiny tingling sensations that I’ve been trying so hard to ignore.

“I am happy it’s a very successful event, Lady Claire! See those people’s faces? They all have the best night being here.” Hannah exclaimed in a cheerful but exhausted tone. Her smile never left her face, as she was so delighted with the outcome of the celebration.
