Chapter 50. A New Hobby
The tone of his voice wanted me to believe that he was concerned about me. Still, the expression on his face remained austere.
On the other hand, an old woman in her sixties with a sharp look, who was a replacement for Thelma’s job after her execution, assisted me personally inside the manor. The other servants took care of our luggage.
“Your Highness, let me introduce myself. I am Cynthia, the new housekeeper of the palace. I am so honored to assist you with everything you need. If there is anything you want or need help with, please tell your maids, and I will attend to you personally.” She curtsied in front of me, though, and I sensed the strictness in her tone, reminding me of old Marina.
I gave her a small smile and nodded gently, acknowledging her, “Thank you, Cynthia.” I said shortly, not wanting to remember the horror of Thelma’s death in my head.
