Chapter 54. Escape

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll find out when we get there.”

After I left all the luxuries I had in the pack manor, wearing only my old, ragged clothes and shoes I used to wear before I was sent into that place, all I had in mind was to run quickly towards the stable.

Master Ralph was there waiting for me. He gave me another bag that he tied to the saddle of my horse.

“What’s that?” I asked him, bewildered, my eyes full of fear and the adrenaline in me made me almost breathless, making my whole body tremble uncontrollably.

“Things you need once you get to the place I told you, Claire. BE QUICK! We cannot afford to get caught! I’ll accompany you until we reach the forest but that’s the farthest I can go,” he said breathlessly as he led the black horse out of it’s stall. The pressure and the tension made us both agitated with fear as he double-checked the buckles that were strapped to my saddle.
