Chapter 44
Evelyn's eyes went completely black, and she let out a low growl as tears threatened to fall from her eyes. She threw herself back and then ran full speed toward Claire with a mad look on her face.
Claire did what Cain had always taught her and went into a half-crouch to get ready for the attack.
Just as Evelyn was about to strike, Claire grabbed her wrist, turned her back, and threw her over, slamming her body into the ground.
Evelyn yelled out in pain when her back hit the ground hard. Claire took a step back and got ready for her to attack again. But instead of running away, Evelyn turned her head up and glared at her.
Then Evelyn flipped over and jumped to her feet. She crouched down in front of me, ready to attack. She ran at Claire screaming like a madwoman, but she was pulled back and thrown to the ground before she could reach her.
