Chapter 72

Claire's POV

Suddenly, a hand gently landed on my shoulder and gripped it in a way that made me feel better, and I jerked a little at the unexpected touch. I squeezed my eyes shut and took a deep breath when I realized the hand was Roselyn's.

Her sweet, floral scent always put me at ease and made me think of my mother, whom I missed very much.

Roselyn said, "I'm sorry, Claire," instead of calling me Luna this time. That seemed strange to me, since Roselyn had always called me Luna from the start. This time, though, what she said was a sincere apology that didn't need to be so formal.

"Why are you sorry?" I squeezed my eyes even tighter, not wanting to cry again. Don't say sorry..." I said before letting out a shaky breath. I didn't want to hear it from her because then it would be even more real, and I can't stand that thought.
