Chapter 28

Mia POV

A loud bang resounded across the house.

It was a gun shot, no doubt.

I placed my hand over my chest, frozen in fear.

Ethan had strictly warned me not to wander in the house and even went as far as to station two guards before my room to protect me so how did an intruder manage to get in?

I opened the door and gasped. The guards were on the floor. My hands shook as I placed my ear over their chests to see if they were still breathing. Luckily they were.

Did the strange man do this to them?

I heard heavy footsteps approaching.

“What did I say about staying in your room, Isabelle?” Ethan asked, looming over me.

“I….I heard a gun shot. I was worried you got hurt”

“I’m alright” He said curtly, pulling me back into the room.

There was blood on his shirt and mouth but there didn’t seem to be a wound anywhere else.
