Mia POV

Before I could charge at them, a loud voice echoed through the dark alley.

“Leave the lady alone!”

I turned to see Kate standing a few feet from me, her hands on her hips as she glared daggers at them.

“Now there’s two” the third one said, licking his lips.

“Get lost while I’m being nice”

“If we don’t, what are you going to do? Beat us up?” They burst into laughter.

Kate cracked her knuckles.

“That is exactly what I’m going to do”

She growled and lunged forward, throwing a flying kick that hit him square in the chest. He stumbled and fell.

Another grabbed her wrist. She twisted out of his grip and jabbed her elbow backwards, hitting him in the ribs.

He staggered back several steps, his eyes wide with pain.

The third pulled out a small knife, flashing it forward. The moonlight reflecting off the steel.

She chuckled, shaking her head.

“You think that is going to scare me?”
