Mia POV
Nora was too weak to take on a wolf this size.
“Mia!”
I barely had time to turn as the wolf lunged at me. I froze, shock rooting me in place.
I shut my eyes, bracing myself for the pain. I waited but it didn’t come.
Puzzled, I opened my eyes and my blood ran cold when I saw my mother in front of me, the rogue’s claws buried deep in her stomach.
With the last of her power, she struck back, sending the rogue back several steps till its head hit a sharp edge and it fell, lifeless.
She collapsed.
I caught her and dropped to my knees beside her as she fell.
“No…no, please” I whispered, tears clouded my vision as I held her.
Her breathing became shallow and her eyes dimmed. She reached up to brush my cheek with her fingers.
“I’m sorry I could not be there when you needed me the most. I’m really sorry” she murmured weakly.
“If you’re truly sorry, then stay with me. Don’t leave me too”
