Mia POV

I staggered back a few steps and barely managed to steady myself as I almost tripped.

My heart slammed so violently against my chest. My face held a mixture of confusion and anger. I opened my mouth but no words came out.

I was made to believe she was dead but here she was, standing a few feet away from me. Though she was in a bad shape, she looked very much alive.

“I never thought I would see you again” she rasped and flinched.

“You…. you’re dead”

She chuckled softly. “Is that what your husband told you?”

Lukas lied to me? I could help but think. Did Kate know about this too?

“As you can see, I’m still alive”

“You killed my son…. but you’re still breathing” I whispered, my hands gripping the cold metal bars.

“Your husband won’t let me die. You can’t shift all the blame on me. You failed to protect your son”

My breath hitched as tears stung my eyes.

“You murdered my son, you evil bitch!”
