Mia POV

In the middle of the night, the wind kicked up without warning. A howling gust of wind whipped through the air and for a moment, I thought I heard a scream.

I got out of bed to check on the twins in their crib. Then I heard it again. A distant scream of pain.

I woke Lukas up.

“I heard something”

The door swung open and Michael stormed in, breathing heavily. Kate was behind him, holding Cedric. Axel was there too.

“We’re under attack. Silver stone….. They are here. They’re trying to breach our defenses as we speak”

My pulse spiked.

Lukas pointed at Kate and me. “Both of you, stay here. No matter what you hear, do not come out”

Kate nodded but I wasn’t okay with it..

“But you said……”

“Stay in here, Mia. You have to promise me?”

He waited and I knew I could not keep him any longer. “I promise”

He planted a quick kiss on my lips. “I’ll handle this”
