Chapter 34

Dana’s POV

Only minutes ago, I had been on the brink of death. We had been on the go for about eighteen hours without rest; I was beyond exhausted and I could tell my sister was too. Fear was the only thing right now that made my legs continue to move and that kept my eyes from shutting down. All I needed at the moment to sleep and it did not matter if it was Lady Tamar’s bed or the bushy forest floor which seemed inviting.

I was about to collapse in exhaustion when I heard the hiss of a snake, fear picked up my pace again. I looked around me and there was no snake but the hiss had done enough damage so I kept on walking as fast as my legs could allow me.

Earlier when Raya had suggested I run to save myself, I had been tempted to do so. However, I had taken the cowardly way out. I knew I could not face life alone without her but my side so if she was going to die, I was going to follow suit.
