Keenan’s POV

A startling realization dawned on me. This must have been what the witch meant when she had said that I would soon need her help. I abandoned the goat and began to pace about in worry. If they were in the shadow of death was there a chance that they could somehow survive? It seemed unlikely as the forest was associated with horrors that defied imagination.

But if there was the slightest possibility that they could leave alive… First, I had to pen a letter to Lady Tamar… No, if they were in the forest already I had to find a way to bring them out alive. Letters could always wait. Right now it did not matter if the witch wanted my soul I would do anything to ensure that Raya returned to me unhurt. The mere thought of her in danger was driving me nearly insane.
