Chapter 9
Raya turned at the unmistakable sound of Keenan’s voice. He stood there dressed in the same ash tunic she had first seen him wear. In the dark night, it was hard to make out his long hair fluttering in the wind. His eyes looked dark and menacing in the dim light of dusk.
“Who do you think you are?” Thallus snarled; his attention shifted from Raya to Keenan.
“Who do I think I am, or who am I really?” Keenan teased. “I am not sure which you want me to answer, but I do not know. I am grateful not to be you; else, I would have been a mere coward. A sorry excuse of a leader, A man whose heart is void of any good and only filled with lustful intention? Yes, I am glad I am not you.”
“Watch your tone with me,” Thallus growled and angrily snapped his bones, allowing his grey wolf with specs of black to take over him.
He raised a paw to strike Keenan, but Keenan moved out of the way just in time. He shifted into his wolf form, too, transforming into a pure black wolf.
