Chapter 23. First Kiss

Leia – POV

I trudged downstairs despite knowing Xavier would disapprove of me leaving the bed. Upon reaching the bottom, I found him coldly regarding a distraught woman while Vincent stood emotionlessly beside him. Daisy, however, was trying to calm the woman down. Her scent was vaguely familiar, and she whipped her head around at the sound of my footsteps.

My breath hitched at the sight of the woman's tattered clothes and dirt-covered body. Surprise flared in her eyes, mirroring my own. "Rovina!"

"Leia!!" Our names echoed simultaneously. I rushed to her, pulling her into a hug. "Oh my god, Rovina. What happened?" I asked, breaking our embrace. Rovina's eyes, damp from fresh tears, bore into mine.

"I found my mate in the White Wolf pack, and he was killed protecting me. I came here because my mate told me that Blackmoon could prevent a catastrophe befalling our wolf clans," she managed to stammer out between sniffs.
