Chapter 11. The Council’s Judgment
Adrianna’s POV
The door to my cell opened the next morning, and I knew something bad was about to happen because there were four guards instead of the usual one; they all had weapons and looked at me like I was something they scraped off their boots.
“Get up,” the biggest guard ordered. “The council wants to see you.”
My heart started pounding so hard I thought it might break through my chest, but I stood up on shaky legs and held out my wrists so they could see I wasn’t going to fight.
They grabbed me anyway and dragged me out of the cell and down the hallway as I stumbled over the chains on my ankles, but they didn’t slow down or care when I nearly fell.
We went up some stairs and through a door, and suddenly I was in a large room with high ceilings and banners hanging on the walls and a long table where four old wolves sat watching me with cold eyes.
The guards forced me to my knees in front of the table, and the stone floor hurt,
