Chapter 10. The Beta’s Dilemma
Marcus’s POV
I stood in the council chamber waiting for the elders to arrive, my mind kept going back to the girl in that cell and the way the beast reacted to her presence, and honestly, I had no idea how to explain any of it to a room full of worried wolves who wanted simple answers.
The chamber was one of the few buildings we’d managed to fully restore after the attack. It showed in the polished wood floors and the heavy oak table that dominated the center of the room.
Elder Theron entered first and took his seat at the head of the table. He was a massive man with grey hair and sharp eyes that missed nothing.
Edwin entered next, his face was lined with worry that looked genuine, and he’d been staying close to pack business ever since we’d brought Kael home. He was Kael’s uncle.
“Marcus,” he said, and his voice was warm. “Thank you for calling this meeting. We need to discuss my nephew’s condition.”
