Bella’s POV

"Kaden!" I yelled again, my voice rising in panic. But there was still no reply. My hands were shaking as I redialed the number for the third time, my heart pounding in my throat. But the line just rang and rang, until finally I heard the dreaded tone that meant the number was switched off.

"No..." I muttered, a sense of despair rising within me.

All I could think about was my son, left alone and vulnerable. I raced to the car, my mind spinning with fear and worry.

"Please keep my son safe," I whispered to no one in particular. "He's all I had, and I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to him."

As I drove, I tried to call Kaden over and over again, but the line remained dead. "Please, please answer," I pleaded, my eyes filling with tears.
